Get it out of the drawer

I’m Gen. I help families around Santa Rosa write wills and trusts, name the people who will act for them, and settle an estate after a loss. Pick the sentence closest to your week.

What I do

Three jobs, priced before we start

Each one has a flat fee in writing before you commit. I’ll say what it covers and what it doesn’t.

  • Wills and trusts

A will, a living trust, or a check-up of the plan already in your drawer. You leave with signed papers and a summary your family can read.

    • Flat fee, quoted in writing first

    • Signing meeting included

    • A one-page summary in plain words

  • Powers of attorney

Name who speaks for you on money and on health, and write your wishes down where the people you trust can find them.

    • Money and health documents together

    • Copies for the people you name

    • A look-over when life changes

  • Probate

Settling an estate or trust after a death: the filings, the notices, the accounts, and a call from me when something needs you.

    • Flat fee for uncontested estates

    • Filing and publication costs separate

    • A checklist for every step

After the signing

Every plan ends in a folder you can grab

People in Sonoma County keep a folder by the door. Yours will hold the signed papers, a summary in plain words and a short list of who to call, in order. I keep the originals safe and send you scanned copies.

In the folder

  • Signed copies and a plain-words summary

  • Who to call, in order

  • Where each account and policy lives

  • A yearly reminder to look it over

Heard after the last signature

“Dad had a drawer full of papers and no plan. Gen sorted it out in two visits and handed me a page I could actually read.”

Fiona K.Daughter, planning with her father

“I had put it off for years. She made it feel like an errand, not an ordeal, and told me the cost before I said yes.”

Rhys T.Planning for his family

“I called with no idea where to start. Every month I knew what came next and what it would cost.”

Each family’s situation is different, and so is every outcome.

Four questions before we begin

What does a flat fee include?

The documents we agreed on, the meeting where we go through them, the signing, and copies for you. Court, recording and publication costs are separate, and I list them in the quote before you decide.

Do I need a trust, or is a will enough?

Often a will and two powers of attorney are enough. A trust earns its cost when you want a home or accounts to pass without a court filing, or to stay managed for someone. I’ll tell you which fits, even when it’s the cheaper one.

Can you come to my parent’s home or the hospital?

Yes. Signings can happen at the office, at a kitchen table, in a hospital room or by arrangement in the evening. Tell me what the week looks like and I’ll fit it.

My parent has some memory loss. Is it too late?

Not necessarily. What matters is whether your parent understands what they are signing on the day. I’ll meet them first, in their own words, and tell you honestly what I see.

What should I bring to a first call?

Nothing. Just the names of the people you’re planning for and what’s worrying you. We’ll list the papers to find after we talk.

Tell me who you’re planning for

Send a few lines or call. I answer myself, and I’ll say whether I’m the right lawyer for the job.

Please don’t send confidential details through the form.
